Yes, you can close your eyes for almost the whole surgery. but at a certain point of operation, you may be requested to open your eyes.

Blepharoplasty usually isn’t very painful. Most people don’t need any pain medicine afterward. But your eyelids might feel swollen and sensitive. Some people like to take mild pain relievers like paracetamol for this.

After getting lower eyelid surgery, you can usually expect to fully recover in just two weeks, which is about 14 days. But remember, recovering from surgery takes a lot of energy.

Do not bend over or participate in physical activity such as biking, running, weight lifting for two weeks or until your doctor advises it is safe. For one to two weeks, avoid swimming, hot tubs, gardening, and cleaning.

A surgeon typically takes 45 minutes to 1 hour for upper blepharoplasty.  In the case of both upper and lower eyelids at the same time, it usually takes about 2 hours, depending on whether fat is adjusted or extra work is required.
