Blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery) is one of the most effective procedures for restoring a more refreshed, youthful appearance.
At Precision Surgery Clinic, we offer upper eyelid blepharoplasty, lower eyelid blepharoplasty, or combined upper and lower eyelid surgery, performed under local anaesthetic in a comfortable private setting.

Blepharoplasty is a procedure designed to remove:
This can involve:
The goal is always natural, subtle rejuvenation — helping you look more rested rather than “operated on”.
Upper eyelid blepharoplasty removes excess skin from the upper eyelids to restore a fresher, more open appearance.
The scar is typically very well hidden within the natural eyelid crease.
Lower eyelid blepharoplasty improves under-eye bags and puffiness, helping you look less tired. This is a bit more extensive than an upper blepharoplasty as we lift the entire orbicularis muscle in the upper cheek under the eye and anchor it to the orbital rim, essentially performing a mid-face lift.
Lower eyelid surgery may involve:
This is tailored to each individual to achieve natural, subtle results.
Most patients experience:
Final results improve over several weeks to months.

Yes. At Precision Surgery Clinic in Edgbaston, Birmingham, we provide both upper and eyelid blepharoplasties under local anaesthetic as a day case procedure.
Yes. Blepahroplasty in our clinic is performed under local anaesthesia.
Most patients report only minimal discomfort. The local anaesthetic injections sting for a few seconds then it all goes numb and you can only feel touch, pressure and pulling, but nothing sharp or painful.
The procedure is performed under general anaesthetic in many places, at our clinic, blepharoplasty is usually performed under local anaesthetic. This keeps the cost down and allows you to return home the same day.
Surgery typically takes between 60 and 90 minutes, depending on the complexity of the procedure required. Usually 30 minutes per side for an upper bleph and 45 minutes per side for a lower bleph procedure. There will be time allocated for marking, local anaesthetic and paperwork so your appointment is likely to last 2-2.5 hours.
Incisions are placed in the natural crease of the upper eyelid or just below the lower eyelash line where they are usually well concealed. Scars mature gradually over several months.
You will have sterstrips over the wound and your stitch will be a running stitch in a loop. Your upper eyelid will be swollen and bruised for the first few days, but you should be able to carry out most daily activities which are strenous. Keep the wound and dressing dry for 48 hours. Within a week, most of the bruising is resolved and a significant amount of the swelling, and there will be residual swelling to go down over the subsuquent weeks after we remove the stitch after 1 week. The skin is essentially healed in 2 weeks and you can go back to all activities and sports in 3 weeks.
It is very hard to tell if someone has had blepharoplasty surgery. The scars are very well hidden and the effect is not one of someone obviously having had surgery, but a brighter, more youthful appearance where people can’t really figure out what you have had done.
There are many potential complications as with any surgery which the surgeon will go through with you during your consultation. The most serious one is bleeding at the back of the eye causing blindness which is extremely rare nowadays as most places do not excise an excess amount of fat. Taking too much skin can also result in you not being able to close your eyes in an upper bleph resulting in dry eyes or having the eye pulled down (Ectropion) in a lower blepharoplasty. These are very difficult complications to deal with which is why we spend a lot of time measuring and marking. We have never experienced any of these serious complications with any of our patients.
The cost of a blepharoplasty depends on the complexity of the procedure. A personalised quote is provided following consultation. Typically the standard price of an upper blepharoplasty is £2200 and a lower blepharoplasty is £3000.
