As the head of the trauma service at the Birmingham Hand Centre, he treats and reconstructs severe injuries to the upper limb, including those involving bone, soft tissue, and nerves. This includes microsurgical free flap repair and nerve injuries to both the upper and lower limbs. He takes care of a lot of nerve injuries that were caused by doctors’ mistakes and regularly does private plastic, hand, and nerve surgery. Mr. Samuel George is currently the main trainer for the nationally designated Advanced Training Post in hand surgery in the West Midlands and the director of the highly regarded Hand and Nerve fellowship program at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham. He has authored two books and thirty publications in the fields of peripheral nerve, hand, and plastic surgery.
Mr. George is a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Orthoplastic Surgery and has presented at more than 50 national and international conferences. His love of teaching is evident in the MSc curricula he teaches at the Universities of Edinburgh and Birmingham, where he lectures at the medical school and conducts courses across the United Kingdom.
